Using Online Video Cases of Best Practice Instruction in Beginning Reading for Preservice Teacher Education:  The CTELL Project

 Jill Castek and Don Leu

The aim of the CTELL project is to provide new options for preparing literacy educators to deliver classroom instruction. CTELL has been used in universities around the country, demonstrating the collaborative possibilities technology affords us.  Join us on a guided tour of CTELL’s online video cases that feature twelve exceptional K-3 classrooms.   Cases explore teachers designs for classroom environments, demonstrate whole and small group lessons, conduct informal assessment procedures, deliver parent-teacher conferences, showcase student work and more!  Discussion will focus on recent research on efficacy issues and ways these online video cases may be used in preservice teacher education courses to address the multi-faceted nature of classroom instruction.
