Critical Reading Strategies for Evaluating Online Information 

Julie Coiro and Clarisse O Lima

A conversation about the nature of information on the Internet and its implications for reading and critical thinking in the content area.  Strategies for preparing students to analyze and evaluate information, apply visual literacy skills and validate information found on the Internet will be shared.  Walk away with a list of web-based instructional models and an outline of critical “habits of mind” that provide opportunities for students in all content areas to develop these new critical literacies.
